fSometimes you just need a simple, classy card - enough with the Fairisle jumpers and gold balls, twee gardening pics and beer references. Sometimes less is more..
EEK! For the first time we will be offering workshops in our home studio!
During Dorset Art Weeks so many people asked us about 'how-tos' that it made sense to run classes and we're so looking forward to sharing tips, tricks and techniques with you, things that have taken us years to learn.
Classes are limited to 4 people - so there'll be plenty of one-to-one time with tailored and individual support.
All materials will be provided - just bring an apron.
Gentle encouragement and generous sharing guaranteed. Tea and coffee and cake supplied too!
We look forward to playing with you. Find out more by clicking the button!
Ah, at the end of day two I can honestly say it's been a pleasure! We've met so many lovely people and had some wonderful feedback - thank you to all our visitors and customers. Another 14 days to go.
Here's a few snaps from our little venue, we have the studio and the conservatory exhibiting art and craft, and we even have a fairy ring in the garden! Folks have been standing inside it making wishes - some real magic has been happening too!
Wowzers, how about that hot weather? We were sweltering inside a marquee, trying to be professional and barefoot at the same time!
It was great to see some familiar faces and meet lots of new folks too, thanks for visiting and chatting with us! We did several Facebook lives at the show with walk-throughs and mini interviews with other artists, be sure to have a look! Here's some photo's of our stand and a couple from the beautiful surroundings. We're sure you'll notice some new products fresh off the work bench, we hope to list them soon but if there's anything you fancy please message us, we'd be happy to give you the details with no obligations. Until next time friends :)
So excited that there are 7 other artists exhibiting in our tiny village this year, with 2 others very close by! We will be showing our Handmade Dorset work as well as original paintings, sculptures and prints, it's going to be lovely, visit if you can.
No matter the weather (pouring with rain here for nearly 48 hours!), or your religion or none, we hope you have a really beautiful Easter weekend - full of family, friends and fun, however that looks for you.
We've had such a lovely response to the Spring Collection - thank you so much - we're so glad you like it as much as we do!
And, it really is starting to feel spring like now isn't it? Here in Dorset the sun has been shining today and the garden is starting to come to life. We're so blessed, it's so beautiful here - over on Facebook I did a little live video of a recent dog walk if you'd like to see our stunning countryside views.
Please let us know which is your fave Spring Collection piece - we love them all and have delayed packing them away for a bit so we can gaze at them a little longer :)
Take care friends, happy Spring x
Can you believe we are half way through March already?! As a young person I remember adults saying time goes by so fast, but I never really sensed it until now. Maybe it's an age thing - I turned 50 last year - do you feel it too?
Can't say I mind hurtling into Spring though! Our new Spring Collection release will be happening soon- hurrah. Naturally being Spring we have gone for birds and babies with a mix of vintage styled home accents and fresh and fun nursery decor, we can't wait to share it with you!
In the meantime, here's a cute LLama I couldn't resist making just for fun to whet your appetite. Have a beautiful day x
Motherhood is one of life's mysteries isn't it? The most wonderful, and at the same time, the most difficult job on Earth - all wrapped up in a little bundle of magic, joy, tears and miracles. And, of course, it comes in all sorts of guises. For some of us motherhood does indeed involve nappies, sleepless nights, grazed knees and giggles. For others it will be more about the furry snuggles and vets bills, and for others the tender care of planting seeds and re-potting young courageous stems.
Mother's Day is on the 11th of March in the UK, not long now. Whether you are Mum to a mini human, a pet or a houseplant - we salute you. This Mother's day give yourself a pat on the back, taking care of another is a beautiful life skill and on behalf of everyone we would like to say thank you. Have a lovely Mother's Day, you deserve it x

Hello, how are your preparations for the special day going friends?
If you're anything like us there is still a lot to do - I haven't sent a single card yet! But I'm busy making some special things for some special people.. top secret so can't share here :)

A snap of our stand, and below are some pics of our friendly neighbours, what a fab week :)
Wow, we are so excited to be exhibiting at this prestigious fair again! It's been a few years but we're sure the atmosphere will be just as festive and the standard of work be just as brilliant as before. We're also looking forward to seeing a few familiar faces - the craft fair crowd are such a lovely lot. Maybe we'll see you there too? Please be sure to say hello!
For more information please go to the Craft in Focus website.
We've just announced a little giveaway on Facebook for a cheeky £15 voucher - what would you spend yours on? It could go a long way with lush necklaces at just £5, beautiful hand finished cards at £2 and sweet handmade Christmas decs at only £4.50!
As well as creating some little things we are also budget conscious Mums, we know what it's like to eek out the pennies and one-off handcrafted items can all too often be out of reach. We like to offer beautiful items that are affordable - we all deserve some lovely in our lives.
Has been a really busy week at Handmade Dorset HQ! Mostly swimming in the deep, unfathomable waters of SEO, but managing to snatch some precious breaths making too. Here's some clay snowmen in stage one and two, I love both stages equally - sculpting and painting. By stage three I tend to get a little jittery as to how they might turn out - anyone else get that? Up till that point they're full of promise and possibility. (Hmm... maybe that's why I used to procrastinate in getting things finished - interesting post for another day maybe - I'm sure I'm not the only one ha ha?)
I'll share the acorn pendants another day too - they're going to be so cute.
So many ideas for these little log pieces! So far I've painted robins, snowmen and now these little love wreaths. I made a few last year and fully intended to cut my own branches this year but worry the surfaces would be all wobbly - have you tried it? I'd be interested to know how it worked and what saw you used. More images to follow as I finish them.
Just as we're about to get knee deep in robins and reindeer the invites and paperwork for next years craft shows start popping through the door - it happens every year but always catches me off guard. I'm not one for forward planning - took 20 years to get this website off the ground ha ha - so thinking about a new business year just doesn't compute. I want to revel in the here and now, to really enjoy this slow and steady build up to the creative climax of the year.
Every year, about now, I fantasise about what I'm going to make my loved ones this Christmas - the personalised photo frame complete with handpicked photos, that particular brooch to go with that particular dress, the silly in-joke stocking filler that only they will understand. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't, but when it does - it is always loved and mostly treasured.
I wonder what you are planning to make this year, I'd love to hear! Feel free to comment below.... here's one I made earlier!
We've had lovely feedback and we so appreciate it. Being creative types we're also pretty open to new ideas so if there's anything you'd like to see here please let us know.
Today we had cows for company, they visit the field behind the studio twice a year and usually chomp on the cordelines in our garden. Been a glorious October so far hasn't it?
We're so pleased you came! It's been a little bonkers getting this ready - a whirlwind of learning techie stuff ha ha - but we're here and the bare, but dare we say, beautiful bones of our online shop is in the real world sharing the love, thank you for joining us.
What better way than to spend an autumn evening browsing our new website? we have so much more to bring too - please keep checking back, our workshop is bursting with new makes in various stages and we'll be bringing them to you soon.
Boo! Our delivery of lovely components to make more pretties has gone astray (UK mail - don't ask), it'll just be a bit longer before we can share them with you all. In the meantime here's a rather natty brooch pin, almost finished, fresh off the kitchen table..
